Learner diary week :
In our first lesson, we learnt about typography. we learned about different fonts and font families and also why most websites only use a small amount of fonts. We learned what a sands serif and a serif font was. A serif font is a font like the one that i am currently writing, it is a serif font because the letters have the flicks on them. In the next lesson we learned about Hex codes which are used in websites so that every shade of a colour is the exact same. The hex code is like the identity of the colour, it is the code which creates the exact shade so that it can be reused and make a website look more professional. In the next lesson, we looked at our three websites and looked at which classic layout they had (three block, five block and advanced grid are some examples).
This is a three box layout.
This is a advanced grid layout. Finally this is a five box layout
Learner diary:This week we were taught that a brief is a specific set of instructions. We were given examples of briefs in media and in various industries. We were also told what a client is. A client is a person or organisation that require specific services like a business may require a solicitor. We also focused on audience engagement which is why a particular media product appeals to specific groups or genders of people. We practiced this by analysing the college website and saying why it appeals to students and parents and how and we also picked two websites that we thought appealed to teenage boys and girls and why it was balanced and not specific to one gender.
Learner Diary:
On the first lesson of the week, we familarised our selves with the DISTINCT concept. we were told that it was an acronym for Don't Ignore, Setting, Technical codes, Iconography, Narrative, Characters and Themes. We were then told what they mean for example, setting being where the image was set and why, technical codes are things like camera angles and frames, narrative is what happened before the photograph and why the people or things are in their current positions. The character aspect was to focus on why the person is wearing that outfit and pulling the particular facial expressions and what emotion this displays. The next lesson were were given cameras and sent out to capture photos displaying particular emotions like, wealth, weakeness, strength and power. In our final lesson we were asked to analyse our images and talk about how we included the photographic aspects of DISTINCT and why these things iclude them.
